When I removed the old unit and put it aside a gust of wind closed the trunk. Since there's no actuator attached it cannot be opened electronically. Are Porsche engineers that stupid that they could not foresee such an issue and provide an emergency trunk release (like there is for the hood) cable for such instances. I can see this happening if ever the actuator failed. How does one access the trunk on a boxster with no electricity? Along those lines, as an engineer who has worked with the automotive industry I have to question why anyone would depend on a problematic electrical system using relays, fuses and servomotors when a simple cable from the release lever to the mechanism would save money and weight and create a better, more robust and reliable product. Oh yes, it's to keep people like you in business instead of producing a better product. Honestly, it never occurred to me that anyone would use anything but a simple cable release mechanism but there's no way to include every stupid decision people make. This is why I didn't think about propping up the trunk. Common sense suggests that a problem like this could never happen but I underestimated the incompetence of people. In true Porsche fashion, they don't want you to know about this in the hopes you will have to go to the dealership. The access cable (manual) for the front is behind the right side headlight. Similarly, while there is no knowledge of this in the outside world, the emergency release cable for the rear is behind the left side taillight. You must remove the rear tire and well liners to get to it (same as the front) and be careful-the cable is VERY flimsy and breaks easily. I broke it trying to use it. But there are methods to get into both which will be a surprise to the idiots who put in their comments even when they did not know what they were talking about! When I removed the old unit and put it aside a gust of wind closed the trunk. Since there's no actuat. http://aceonlinementors.com/userfiles/braun-tassimo-instruction-manual.xml

If you have a Boxster your worries just. Front trunk release. Dec 01, 2006 I am having a problem where the rear trunk lid won't open. I had opened the trunk just a minute earlier and when I tried. To open it again, it just wouldn't pop open. It used to open using both the key and the switch next to the driver seat. The key fob battery went completely dead and I changed the battery myself. When clicking the key fob it makes the 'mechanical sound' like it will open--but does not 'come up' 4. When flipping the switch next to the driver seat, it does the same thing: makes the 'mechanical sound' (the 'normal sound')--but does not come up or open 5. The front trunk opens fine with both the switch and the key fob. The doors look and unlock fine with the key fob. Any help would be mightily appreciated. The cable coming from the electric motor to the latch is probably broken, if you can hear the motor noise. Use the emergency cable in the rear left wheel well near the bumper to open the trunk. Do a search, it happens regularly. I have tried: - searching around on the site for more details but I can't find anything about this. Lots of things about front trunks not opening, doors, etc. Cooley munson debt raritan nj. http://estudiowebcolombia.com/userfiles/braun-tassimo-ta-1000-manual.xml

But nothing about the rear trunk not opening and still making the 'mechanical' sound. What you suggest--the latch being broken--sounds reasonable, but I mean--nothing was done except the battery running out in the remote and changing it. It is hard for me to imagine that the cable would be broken. - I have also crawled all around the wheel wells (both left and right) under the rear bumper.etc to no avail. I cannot find the emergency cable. Is it hidden 'under' a flap or something. I have push, proded and pulled anything I can find. Thanks for your help. There are 2 cables for the rear, hard to believe both cables are broken. Well, I read the users manual and didn't find anything about an emergency cable location. Only about jumping from the fuse box. But that is not the problem. I have battery and plenty of it. Everything works fine except the rear lid won't open. I did hunt around and saw something about finding the emergency cable release by taking off the rear tire, and a few other things. When I flip the switch next to the drivers seat or use the key fob, everything 'sounds' like it works fine. You go back and the lid is not open and it is shut like a drum. What I was thinking is that since this all started with the key fob battery running out and changing that--that something needed to be 'reprogrammed' or 'reset' on the fob, alarm system, whatever. I hunted around and someone said something about putting the key in and pressing the fob open button for 10 seconds or something.but it wasn't clear. Any help on something else beside physical force (which I'll try in the morning.) is greatly appreciated. I have the same car and the same problem. Did you ever solve the issue. I can't find the cable they are talking about. When you come back you go to start it and the battery is completely dead. No problem, you think, you’ll call AAA and get them to come by and give you a jumpstart, but when they arrive you realize that you can’t open the front trunk because. http://www.bouwdata.net/evenement/02-mercury-sable-owners-manual

What you may not know is that the cable used to unlatch the trunk in your car is prone to breaking at some point and you could end up with a limp latch and a closed trunk. If you have a Boxster your worries just doubled because you have two trunks. If that’s the case, press the key button on your remote to reactivate the remote. You are now good to go. You can use a 12 volt adapter connected to a donor battery through your cigarette lighter (12 volt) outlet. Also, on the fuse box (driver’s footwell) there is a red emergency prong. Pull it out about ? inch and attach the positive (red) clamp of the jumper cable from the donor battery to its copper sides. The negative (black) clamp of the battery’s jumper cable attaches onto the door latch striker (ground). Turn the alarm off by locking and unlocking the car at the door lock. This connection is only good enough to get the trunk lid open. DO NOT try to start the engine with this connection in place. The factory didn’t want to make it too easy for crooks to break into your trunks. This is not even mentioned in the Owner’s Manual. You’ll have to take out the headlight to find it. Topic Re: HELP! Rear trunk won't open nightmare I have a 2000 base Boxster. While trying to repair a broken trunk release cable (the one activated by the key fob) I disconnected the other cable--the one operated by the pull handle under the driver's door. You guessed it--I proceeded to accidentally shut the rear trunk. Now what do I do? Neither cable is connected to the trunk release mechanism. I understand there might be an emergency cable pull under the left rear wheel well but is that linked to one of the disconnected cables.Happy Boxstering, Pedro Pedro Bonilla Memories of a fun day. Reply However, I'm still not sure I understand. Are you saying the emergency cable is not in any way linked to the manual release cable (located under the door sill) or the electric cable (activated from the key fob). https://www.ortorehab.se/images/boxster-manual-transmission-fluid.pdf

Is this emergency cable essentially a THIRD cable for releasing the rear trunk. If so, to what is this emergency cable connected or how does it work. I only saw two cable ends that hook to the latch release mechanism. If there is a third cable connected to the rear latch mechanism somehow, I didn't see it. If that's the case, I'm going to need some other way to get into the trunk. If it's not the case, then wahoo. Reply Your photo suggests that access to the emergency release cable requires removal of the rear bumper. I thought I had read somewhere that you could find the emergency cable by removing the left rear wheel and a section of plastic wheel well. That would seem easier, at least for me, than removing the rear bumper. Any thoughts? And again, thank you! Reply All other screws alongside the bumper are easily accessible. After taking my car to a local body shop, it turns out I do NOT have an emergency release cable, per se (one that emerges behind the rear bumper, as often described). Why? Because my Boxster has an optional feature that allows me to open the trunk with the key fob. In cars such as mine, of course, any illustration showing a single manual release cable and a second emergency release cable is wrong. To explain further: Of the two cables clearly visible within my trunk (near the latch), one emerges from a black plastic sleeve and ultimately links to the manual release mechanism under the driver's door. To access the doohicky, you have to remove the whole carpet and disassemble a metal framework that surrounds the doohicky. Since the key fob offers a second way to open the trunk, the factory must have felt it obviated the need for the standard emergency release cable.Did you do it or the body shop. http://www.sparkprototypes.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1627ed567c25c4---brother-printers-mfc-9840cdw-manual.pdf

I'm looking from the rear with the bumper off and I was only able to unscrew a bracket that holds the top of the bumper Reply I believe some May not be aware that after 2000 the interior trunk and frunk controls went from levers and wire to apparently electric push button. My trunk is opened by a wire connected to latch trigger also connected to the trigger is the solenoid that is FOB activated. Whether that was a option I don’t know but it’s only the trunk that has a solenoid operated open I have read later Boxster’s also can open the front luggage compartment via the fob. Maybe only the later model boxers with the electrical controls were given the hidden safety latches or cables my front luggage compartment has the emergency open cable rear does not. My trunk opening issues I thought were a defective solenoid but after removal and testing the opening solenoid Works perfectly I have 12 V on the two wire connector and apparently you receive the ground to activate the trunk from the Control unit alarm system under left hand seat. Still pursuing a remedy for not receiving a ground to solenoid when fob is activated. Have read a post that another Boxster owner had a similar problem and the dealership reprogrammed I guess the control unit and it’s off his issue not really fond of the dealership I’ll keep looking. Reply When I pulled on it, it simply came out. And where do I exactly start the dissembly?? Reply Do you have this optional feature. If you don't have this feature, then you must have the emergency cable release instead (the one hidden behind the rear bumper). Having said that, the body shop did all the work. First they removed the bumper and used a special tool to release the latch and open the trunk. Whew! Then they disassembled the the black plastic shield that covers the trunk latch and continued from there to remove pretty much all the carpet in the trunk, then went to work on the metal brackets (also inside the trunk, at the back end). AYNADAKIKEMALIZM.COM/resimler/files/calderas-baxi-manual-instrucciones.pdf

I don't recall being able to see the doohicky without the metal brackets removed (although I could see one end of it, the sleeve from which the cable emerges). You just have to start bracket disassemby and go from there. It should be pretty obvious. Since I didn't do the work I'm not sure how many bolts need to be removed but it was surely several. The best thing I can do is send a photo. I'm trying to do that but it might be later today before I can get it done. Good luck! Reply Click here to login This forum. Tried jump wire toc3 fuse, but steady alarm sounds and keys(2) will not release front trunk hood. Removed liner from front wheelwell on drivers side, but there is no manual trunk release cable. What should I try next. Submitted: 7 years ago. Can you tell me if this car is equipped with an electric or a cable hood trunk release. If it is cable you can try to use a large screwdriver to pry inside the handle to release the cable. Maybe the emergency release cable under the fender liner has been removed. Has this car ever been in a body shop for repair on that front corner. Ask Your Own Porsche Question Customer reply replied 7 years ago I'm not sure if the latch is cable or electric. The latch pull is beside the drivers seat, but I can't move it. When I used the jump wire to c3 fuse, the rear trunk did release, but the latch pull for the rear trunk is also locked and unmoveable. Problems started when I got rain leaking in under drivers seat and set the alarm off. I don't believe there has been any body work done on car. http://www.fullertherapy.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1627ed590eb850---brother-professional-series-mfc-6490cw-manual.pdf

Porsche Mechanic: Roman Bihansky, replied 7 years ago the lever if cable operated will be silver in color and electrical will have 2 small switches one for each lid I believe that it is a manual lever. What happens is that there is a small extremely strong safety mechanism keeping the levers from being activated when pulled on. You will have to remove any trim and use a bright flashlight and a large strong flat head screwdriver to pry the latch so that you can pull up on the lever. It is not simple and will take patience You may try this first put 12V to the C3 fuse. Wire nut a two foot long piece of wire to the two shorter ones you attached to the fuse. Put your fuse back in (pulling an adjacent fuse will make it easier to put back in). Now connect a 12V battery, negative to the frame door latch and positive to the long wire. I used jumper cables to another car, negative from the battery to the frame door latch and positive to the long wire. To reset the trunk and hood locks, use a screwdriver to push the door lock closed by inserting in the hole you can see in the end of the door and moving the screwdriver toward the car. Now use the key to unlock, lock and unlock again. You should hear the central locking mechanism unlock. Ask Your Own Porsche Question Customer reply replied 7 years ago I had already done the lock reset and nothing happened. When I use the jump wire I get a solid alarm horn and nothing else. If you want a rating I need some solid info on what else to try or what might be causing my problem. Porsche Mechanic: Roman Bihansky, replied 7 years ago you can try to release the latch under the pull lever inside the passenger compartment next to the drivers seat. Ask Your Own Porsche Question Customer reply replied 7 years ago I described the latches to you. You stated the release would be silver if they're cable. The latch isn't silver. I don't want to tear into the latches if they're electric. AYKUTEMLAK.COM/upload/ckfinder/files/caldera-utopia-manual.pdf

Thank you, Hank IWhile I was raising the roof I hear noises and noted that the roof was going up at a different angle. I couldn't lower the roof so got it up but noticed it was not straight. However, I am not able to disconnect one of the tension cables from the roof's clamshell. One side of the roof's clamshell, the ball joint was disconnected easily with just a little bit of force required simply pulling on the ball joint's stem. On the other side, I am unable to disconnect the ball joint. I have tried wiggling the joint, different orientations, and applying a considerable amount of pressure, without success I tested the actuator by unplugging it from the actuator itself and hooking up to current from battery. Seems to be working. So I purchase a switch. Still not working. I can only assume it is in the wiring. Check the fuses, however did not check all fuses. Swapped rear trunk fuse and hooked up to front trunk connectors. Still opened the rear trunk. I'm wondering if there are any signs of the stock cable starting to go before it actually snaps. It seems to shift totally fine right now. I am scheduled to go to the Sept 8th HPDC event at Summit point and wondering if I should have the cable swapped before then. Since it's not a proper DE or AutoX event, I think itll be fine, but curious. Similar switches (like a.c.off or recirc) have lights that are much brighter. Can I fix this? Thanks Pedro. We measured a 144-foot, 70-to-zero-mph stopping distance, three feet shorter than the previous Boxster S and five feet better than a Jaguar F-type S. To improve response, Porsche bolted in the 911 Turbo’s rack-and-pinion steering gear, quickening the on-center ratio by 10 percent. Hints of actual road feel work their way to the wheel, a rarity for electrically assisted steering. There’s just enough understeer at the 1.04-g cornering limit to let you know you’re not tethered to the road with steel cables. For daily haring around combined with supreme track-day competence, few sports cars at any price top a Boxster S. Add to that a ride that never beats you up.The top disappears and reappears in 10 seconds at speeds up to 43 mph at the flick of a switch and serves as its own boot when folded. There’s so little cockpit turbulence you can bask in the sun at 100 mph. Some of us love the cupholders that swing out of a cleverly covered dash slot; others vote no on that execution. One missing convenience is a handy place to park your smartphone. However, there are decent storage areas in the glovebox, center console, and door pockets, plus a reasonable amount of luggage space divided between the trunks at each end of the car. If only Porsche had contrived some way to actually see the new turbo-four engine short of lifting the car on a hoist. The car tested here is 52 pounds heavier than the aforementioned 2013 model, largely the result of adding larger brakes and more sophisticated dampers. EPA city ratings are unchanged at 20 mpg with the six-speed manual and 21 mpg with the PDK automatic, but there’s a 2-mpg decline in highway mileage to 26 mpg for the stick and 28 for the PDK. We recorded 18 mpg overall—versus 19 for the previous Boxster S—and a commendable 30 mpg while cruising at 75 mph.
