I walked into a Bose store near my home and explained my issues of my soundlink failing to stay connected to my phone to multiple staff members. They had behaved like it was the first they've ever heard of it. Because my speaker was out of warranty and I bought it through amazon, Bose required a fee in which the price of the fee was almost the same cost as the speaker itself, and they could not promise to fix or replace it. Before I wanted to invest in another Bose speaker (because I really liked mine when it was working), I first looked at reviews online at the one I have. I am now certain that Bose knowingly had a defective issue with this product, and still failed to do right by their customer to fix it. Based on principle alone I will no longer be purchasing from Bose, unless they decide to either fix my speaker or replace it free of charge. Because they made me run around town to see what was wrong with it, now they can run around and try to keep me as a customer.The problem is, mid-play, the speaker will just shut off. Lucky if you get 5 songs in. If you google: Soundlink Mini issues, you’ll find that this is a very common issue and Bose offers no solution after the warranty is up. I purchased the Soundlink mini 2 and didn’t even get 1 year. Contacted Bose for warranty and was never contacted back. Fool me once - shame on you; fool me twice - shame on me.Yes, the SoundLink Mini is just that good. But with so many choices out there--many at a fraction of the price--is this the mini Bluetooth speaker for you. Here are five things to help you decide: 1) Do you care enough about beautiful design, high quality materials and superb craftsmanship to pay a premium for them. If yes, this is the speaker for you. To hold it in your hands--not to mention listen to it--is to understand why it costs what it does. In terms of design, materials and construction, there's not another mini bluetooth speaker out there that can touch it. I actually don't believe there's such a thing as best sound quality, because personal preferences vary. And designing ANY mini speaker is all about compromises. If yes, the Soundlink Mini will disappoint you. You get Aux In capabillity and that's about it. Bose designed this to be the best mini bluetooth speaker it could build, and it does that job superbly. No glitches in pairing or playback--it just works. Terrific sound, amongst the best in class. Terrific 7-hour battery life. Oh, and about that Aux In port: a good friend plugged his electric guitar into it and the sound quality as he played through the Soundlink Mini just blew me away. Personally, I find that I rarely use added features in a feature-laden product, and I prefer design to be focused on what a product is supposed to do. 4) Do you care about great customer service and products that last. In this regard, I don't think there's another audio company that compares to Bose. On the phone or at their stores, they really do strive for customer satisfaction, and they're one of the only companies that will give you 30 days to try out a product with a no-questions-asked refund guaranteed if you're not happy with it. As for longevity, the Soundlink Mini is a good example of their bulletproof construction quality--I've also had a Wave music system for ten years that still works like new. Well, I've saved the worst for last, because Bose views accessory pricing as an opportunity to gouge its own customers. Fortunately, there are much cheaper third party solutions available. Bose support also has the bad habit of responding to help requests (by people other than me) by asking them to contact them privately, so for many previous iterations of the problem they wrote tips but you cannot see them. The unit stopped charging. After a research I found it is a known problem that has no fix. After connecting the speaker directly to the charger without the charging dock, the unit worked once, and not anymore. It turns on, connects to a wifi, but as soon as a sound suppose to transfer, the red battery light starts blinking and no sound. Not working anymore.Bose really to me means, quality, and craftsmanship. This company knows how to build speakers, and they have been doing it for along time. The Bose Soundlink may seem small, but this speaker puts many other products to rest. With today's generation every changing, Bluetooth makes it a breeze streaming music from all your devices. The only single issue I've had is that one of my two speakers stopped working a couple months after I got it. It would make terrible static noises and turn itself off randomly. Although I never exactly tracked the battery life, I've used it for a couple of hours, left it off the dock and went used it again later on in the day for another couple of hours with no issues.
