Dual-Bevel Sliding Glide Miter Saw with 60-Tooth Carbide Saw BladeRegister a free business account Please try your search again later. This 10-inch sliding compound miter saw has the smooth, easy-to-control action we demand in a slider. This saw's built burly, too--here's a slider that looks likely to survive a tumble off the back of a pickup truck (not that we tested it). The blade guard has good action and retracts well, so visibility and motion aren't restricted when cutting and there's no danger of it binding or sticking. The grip is contoured and tapered for the human hand, no matter the size--but there is a safety switch that makes this saw difficult to use left-handed. Bosch has also cleverly mounted the important wrenches and keys on the body of the saw (exactly the sort of attention to detail that makes toolhounds happy). We tip our hardhats to the good people at Bosch; they've made a great saw. --Michael Shilling Choosing a Miter Saw Miter saws are versatile tools that have become a mainstay of workshops everywhere. These powerful saws make angled cuts by pulling a circular blade down onto a workpiece with a short, controlled plunge. It might appear that miter saws are infinitely complex and varied, but there are only three general types. The type you choose will depend on your woodworking needs. https://enec.org/userfiles/3m-s-867-manual.xml

Basic Miter Saws Basic miter saws are the least versatile off the three major variations, but they?re a great starting point for novice do-it-yourselfers. These models typically adjust for miter cuts only, so consider upgrading if you need to do more than that. Compound miter saws are easier to use than basic miter saws because you can place your stock flat for cutting, and they adjust simultaneously for miter and bevel cuts. A compound miter saw is great for jobs that feature stock that's not very tall or wide, such as door and window trim or picture frames. Sliding Compound Miter Saws Sliding compound miter saws are the most versatile of the available models. They have a motor and blade assembly that's mounted on a moveable arm to accommodate longer, wider workpieces. For smaller pieces, the saw performs like an ordinary fixed-head model. On some models, the blade can only pivot in one direction, but on a dual sliding compound miter saw, the blade can tilt to the right or left. Important Features at a Glance Though models will vary by manufacturer and design, these are a few of the more commonly found features that you might want to keep in mind. Electric brake: Reverses the flow of electricity when the saw's trigger is released. This is an important safety feature that slows the blade quickly in case of emergency. Blade guard: Most miter saws have self-retracting guards that withdraw when the saw is lowered for use, and reappear when it is raised. Laser guide: Gives a precise visual line where the cut will occur on your workpiece. Dust bag: Helps collect sawdust for a clearer, more tidy cutting area. Shaft lock: Immobilizes the shaft and blade for quicker, easier blade changes. Table extensions: Mount on either side of the saw to help balance longer workpieces. Miter Saw Blades Miter saw blades come in a variety of different sizes, grades, and materials, but there are three main types: steel, high-speed steel, and carbide-tipped blades. http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/68208

Steel: Inexpensive and good for cutting soft woods or plywoods. Sharpness diminishes quickly in tougher materials. High-Speed Steel: More rugged than steel blades, and great for cutting harder woods. Carbide-Tipped: More expensive than other blades but much more durable. Maintain sharpness over a longer period.Manufacturer Video Videos for related products 1:18 Click to play video Saws HBX Hultafors Tools Manufacturer Next page Upload your video Video Customer Review: Best Hand Saw for Cutting or Trimming Wood See full review Top 10 Zone Onsite Associates Program Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings based on a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. Earl E. A. Dopter 5.0 out of 5 stars This was my second Bosch purchase (the first was a random orbital sander that I also adore). The level of quality has been superb on both items. I love the ergonomics of the device. Everything is where you expect it to be, and everything feels incredibly solid as you make your adjustments, lock them down, set your workpiece in, and especially when you are making your cut. There is NO PLAY in the sliding mechanism, nor is there in the miter adjustment or in the bevel adjustment. It's a very heavy tool, but it needs to be to have the solid feel that it has. I purchased a mobile miter saw base, mounted it to that, and I highly recommend you do the same. (See my review on the mobile base, a Delta 50-155). You do NOT want to be lugging this thing out all the time because of the weight. The only complaint is the really lousy dust collection. However I see this tool as being most useful in its mobile state, so whenever I use it I set it up outside anyhow. http://experience-hr.com/images/bosch-microwave-oven-manual.pdf

I am not aware of any sliding compound miter saw that has an effective dust collector, but even if there were one, you could not get me to trade mine out for one. Another pointer - definitely get an extra Bosch clamp or two. They are not very expensive, are very well made, and make your job much easier, especially if you are working on your own. I understand that there is now a Bosch that bevels both directions. If you decide that it's important to you to be able to bevel both left and right, I'm sure you would be happy with this choice also, but I have never found it to be complicated to work with only the right bevel capability on this saw. It's simple math. Bottom line, I cannot imagine a higher quality work tool and I know you will be happy with this choice. I would go further and say that my experience with Bosch would lead me to look at Bosch first for any corded power tool. (For cordless, see my reviews on Porter-Cable, which I also highly recommend.)What a beautiful tool!! It cuts so quietly and smoothly compared to the others in the shop (Makita and Hitachi - both of which I've had good experience using). The angle detents on the Bosch are dead-on precise and easy to use. I do have a very minor problem with the small dust collector and bag which are useless. I realize that all slide saws do this, but I have to admit I especially appreciate being able to make single cuts on wide jamb stock compared to our other miter saws. Finally, many users complain that the loose adjustment wrench can easily get lost since it does not attach to the saw. Now you can simply insert the included allen wrench through the hole and attach it securely and effortlessly in the allen wrench grommet holder. Problem totally solved - try it. Bottom line... Don't pass on purchasing this tool.I wanted to replace my old Craftsman 12 inch radial arm saw with a sliding miter saw. The issue was safety. I read the reviews and selected the Bosch 10 inch sliding compound miter saw. http://www.hotel-margherita.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626ec5400102a---bosch-microwave-combination-oven-manual.pdf

I went with 10 inches because I read that the 12 inch saws wiggled to much. My Bosch B3915 will cross cut 12 inches just like the bigger blades. I don't need the increased depth of a 12 inch blade. This is a good tool. Cross cutting wide boards is simple and safe. You start the motor and lower the blade at appropriate distance and push the blade back through the material. This is much safer than pulling a radial arm blade through the work. The hold-down clamps are great. I bought an extra one. The saw is well constructed. I didn't have to make any adjustments out of the box. It's noisy as all tools having universial motors are. Motor brush life will be short for heavy users because of the dynamic braking feature. The blade stops very quickly when you release the trigger. A quieter induction motor would make the tool very heavy and probably usless. I love this tool. I get precise and repeatable cuts. That's all I want. It might be nice to have a laser beam illuminating the cut line, but I find that I don't need it. When I make several exact cuts, I use a special fence that I built. Dust collection almost works but it is marginal. Still, I feel comfortable recommending this tool. Both with the same very good 60 tooth blade that comes with the saw. I did quite a bit of research and knew what I would add to the product to make it better before I even ordered it. I have a shop vac hooked to the dust collection port and I would say it still only catches 40-50 of the saw dust generated. I did have to adjust the miter for accuracy. And the work clamp that comes with the saw works great - a must for any miter cuts on hard wood. I did order the extension supports and have yet to get them. You can unsubscribe at anytime. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Do not leave tool until it comes to a complete stop. An outlet voltage incompatible with that specified on the nameplate can result in serious hazards and damage to the tool. This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Double insulation eliminates the need for the three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Never use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock. These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock. A moment of inattention or use of drugs, alcohol or medication while operating power tools can be dangerous. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts. Roll long sleeves above elbows. Rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Be sure switch is “OFF” before plugging in. Carrying tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in tools that have the switch “ON” invites accidents. A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool will be thrown. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations. Serious injury may occur if the tool is tipped or if the cutting tool is accidentally contacted. Do not store materials on or near the tool such that it is necessary to stand on the tool or its stand to reach them. Always wear safety goggles. Dust mask, safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions. Everyday eyeglasses only have impact resistant lenses, they are NOT safety glasses. Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable. It allows for work to shift, causes binding of the tool and loss of control. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed. Do not use the tool for purpose not intended - for example; do not use the miter saw for slicing meats. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally. Properly maintained tools, with sharp cutting edges, are less likely to bind and easier to control. When mounting saw blades be certain that the arrow on the blade matches the direction of the arrow marked on the tool and that the teeth are also pointing in the same direction. Keep guards in place. Check moving parts for binding or any other condition that may affect the normal operation or safety features of the tool. If damaged, have tool serviced before using the tool. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools. Any alteration or modification is a misuse and may result in serious personal injury. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel may result in misplacing internal wires and components which could cause serious hazard. Follow instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance Instructions may create a hazard. If supporting the workpiece by hand, you must always keep hand outside of “No Hand” area as marked with a symbol on the base. Do not use this saw to cut pieces that are too small to be securely clamped. The proximity of the spinning saw blade to your hand may not be obvious and you may be seriously injured. Supporting the workpiece “cross handed” i.e. holding the left side of the workpiece with your right hand is very dangerous. You may unintentionally start the saw, leading to serious personal injury. However, if cutting materials like aluminum or other non-ferrous metals, use only saw blades specifically recommended for nonferrous metal cutting. Cutting ferrous materials causes excessive sparking and will damage the lower guard and will overload the motor. (NOTE: S-B Power Tool Company does not offer 10” metal cutting blades.) If workpiece is bowed or warped, clamp it with the outside bowed face toward the fence. Always make certain that there is no gap between the workpiece, fence and table along the line of the cut. Bent or warped workpieces can twist or rock and may cause binding on the spinning saw blade while cutting. Also, make sure there are no nails or foreign objects in the workpiece. Small debris or loose pieces of wood or other objects that contact the revolving blade can be thrown with high speed at the operator. Workpiece must be stationary and clamped or braced by your hand. Saw must be fed through the workpiece smoothly and at a rate which will not overload the saw’s motor. Multiple workpieces cannot be adequately clamped or braced and may bind on the blade or shift during cutting. A level and firm work surface reduces the risk of the miter saw becoming unstable. Workpieces longer or wider than the miter saw table can tip if not securely supported. If the cutoff piece or workpiece tips it can lift the lower guard or be thrown by the spinning blade. Unstable support for the workpiece can cause the blade to bind or the workpiece to shift during the cutting operation pulling you and the helper into the spinning blade. If confined, i.e. using length stops, it could get wedged against the blade and thrown violently. Rods have a tendency to roll while being cut, causing the blade to “bite” and pull the work with your hand into the blade. This will help avoid thrown workpieces. Wait for all moving parts to stop and unplug the miter saw, then work to free the jammed material. Continued sawing with jammed workpiece could cause loss of control or damage to compound miter saw. Be ready for this reaction when making an incomplete cut or when releasing the switch before the head is completely in the down position. If blade does not stop within five (5) seconds, unplug the saw and follow the instructions in the Troubleshooting section. Read the rest of the manual for safe operation. Make certain the clamp does not interfere with the guard and head assembly. Second, turn saw “ON” and lower the saw to the table. Then PUSH saw through the workpiece.
