This is called the “Global function.” With the Global function, you can change your settings to match those of your equipment and the operating environment, while leaving the settings in the patches untouched. BOREK 2.0 out of 5 stars It also got me up and running quickly using the presets available for each effect. Scrolling through and previewing the Chorus presets saved me time tweaking. The EZ Tone demo is good, although of little value for experienced guitarists who already knowledgeable on different amp models and types of effects (and their common parameters). Kudos the the host, who comes across as both likable and knowledgeable. At a lower price, they might get their content in front more users, because everything about the DVD is dated, from the 4:3 aspect ratio and low standard-definition image to the cheesy music. Now most all of it makes sense. He's a master of making things look simple and his explanation of the chain of effects was spot-on. Note: you'll need this WITH the manual--it doesn't have everything--but if you were having trouble grasping how to just get the basic tones set up and then take it from there, this is what you want. Often times I need to see something to understand it rather than read it--if it's the same with you, well, here you go.It is so easy to follow and it has some great tips and shortcuts that you are going to need with the advanced electronics of this guitar pedal effect. I have had mine for more than a year and I still refer back to it from time to time. Well worth the investment. It helped me out allot. I sold this not to long after I got this. So Idont knowif they have made one for the new GT.I'm using it to understand the Bass version of the GT-10B. Thanks. For the price paid I thought in would go more in depth with the different features of the unit. I felt that it mostly just helped you develop a custom tone.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Bom Dia Pessoal. Just for your reference, the following is my setup that my GT-10 is part of: It’s a powerful device, honestly I think that it’s incredibly powerful compared to its price, that is equipped with an high performance processor that relies on the latest BOSS COSM ( Composite Object Sound Modeling ) technology. Just to give you an idea, let me extract for you some facts and figures from its 152 pages long ( ?? ) Owner’s manual: Wow, isn’t it? Yes, but all these power means even complexity, and despite BOSS has made an excellent job in organizing the Human Machine Interface and writing the manuals, believe me that the BOSS GT-10 is not easy to understand and manage. I have purchased my one in this way, half of the price and with still 8 months of guarantee left ! The impression that I had was positive, I heard many interesting and diversified tones, and had immediately even the sensation that it was a powerful and complex machine. They provided me a GT-10 and its 152 pages long manual, a small combo amplifier and two jack cables. I asked suggestions about how to connect properly the stuff, and I was suggested to connect everything in the most classic way possible as showed in figure 1: In the end I was extremely tired and the impression that I’d had wasn’t as good as the one that the demo videos had given to me. The main reason was that I hadn’t heard a clear difference changing basic aspects of a tone like the type of preamp in a clean sound or the type of distortion in a distorted one. I wondered why, but at the same time I was aware of the complexity of this device, and was quite sure that a couple of hours are not enough to master it. The Owner’s manual at page 22 describes all the possible connections as shown in figure 2: The wide set of diversified clean, overdriven and distorted tones that it can produce depends on them, and you cannot appreciate them with the scheme illustrated in figure 3. The reason is simple: if you use a preamp simulation into your GT-10 it shapes your guitar’s sound with its tonal characteristics and according to its controls (gain, treble, middle, presence and so on), but your external amplifier will do the same a second time with its preamp, and the resulting effect is not good. The last amplifier tends to prevail, and just like in my test in the musical instruments shop you don’t hear a clear difference changing basic aspects of a tone. The BOSS GT-10 only acts as the preamp, and in this way you can fully appreciate the powerful simulations given by the COSM technology. Make a simple test: switch on only the preamp unit of your GT-10 and select as a type “ Clean TWIN “, that is a simulation of a Fender Twin Reverb amplifier, or “ BG Lead “, that simulates the lead sound of a Mesa Boogie combo amplifier, and listen by yourself. For example, in my setup where I have a Marshall JCM 2000 Dual Super Lead series DSL100 tube head I use its amazing distortion. That is the Question It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same outdated rehashed information. Wonderful read! What you will miss will be the simulated amps sounds of GT10. You can use them, but they will be affected by your preamp tonal characteristics. Dual COSM Amp modeling and Dual effects engines allows two completely different amps and Effects chains at the same time. (Great for simulating two guitar players with one guitar). Built in 40-second loop recorder. EZ-tone function that lets ANYONE, Beginner or Pro, make great sounding professional patches in less than a minute. Amps and effects can be switched, layered, stereo split, or switched by picking dynamics (Dynamic Input Sensing). Customizable amps, speaker cabinets, wahs, and distortions. Manual Mode: Lets the player use the GT10 s number pedal switches like regular Stomp Boxes. Effects can be in any order per patch. System parameter allows for seamless patch change. Incredible real time control via 2 built-in Control (CTL) Pedals and Expression (EXP) pedal. Independent effect loop for adding external effects. USB port that streams Audio and Data, This allows the user to use the GT-10 as a complete DAW Guitar interface. Before You Start 1. Plug In to Proper Amplification Make sure the GT-10 is connected to good sounding amplification. We suggest two pro quality amps, such as Roland JC-120s, or other amps that will not color the GT-10 s tone. You can also use good quality powered studio monitors or a PA system. If you have two identical guitar amps with effect loops: 1. Plug the left MAIN Output of the GT-10 into the EFFECT RETURN oone amp. If the amp has stereo returns, use the Left Return. 2. Plug the Right MAIN Output into the EFFECT RETURN of the other amp. If the amp has stereo returns, use the Right Return. 3. Move the amps so they are about four or five feet apart. If you have one guitar amp with a stereo effect loop, such as a JC-120: 1. Plug both MAIN Outputs of the GT-10 into the Left and Right EFFECT RETURN of the amp. If you have two identical guitar amps without effect loops: 1. Plug the Left MAIN Output of the GT-10 into the CLEAN channel of the amp. If the amp has only one channel, plug into this channel. 2. Plug the Right MAIN Output of the GT-10 into the CLEAN channel of the second amp. 3. Move the amps about four or five feet apart. 4. Set both amps for a clean sound with flat EQ. Press the CTL 1 pedal; this will switch Amp models, and Delay type; you will also activate the Chorus and the Compressor. 4. You can also tap in the delay time by stepping on the CTL 2 pedal. The light will turn green and you will hear your Take being played back. 4. To overdub just press down the same pedal again; the light will turn red to indicate that you are in Recording mode. 5. To erase the loop press the BANK UP (CLEAR) pedal. 6. To exit the Loop mode press the two BANK pedals at the same time again.
