Now throw in an audio interface and high-quality pitch to MIDI conversion and you have the Boss GT-001, the company’s latest effects unit, designed to be both compact and powerful for studio and practice sessions. These run the range from essentials such as multiple choruses, flangers, delays and reverbs to more unique algorithms such as Slow Gear, Defretter and Tera Echo. Amp models aren’t lacking either, with over twenty five to choose from, representing all of the classic clean, crunch and high gain tones you could ever need from the history of amplifier design. http://asomarecuador.com/images/boss-gp20-amp-factory-manual.pdf

As a result of this shared GT-100 brain, the huge GT-100 patch library can also be used with the GT-001, offering buyers an existing array of great sounds in addition to 200 factory pre-sets built in. The effects chains can be switched in pretty sophisticated and creative ways using a channel divide function that allows the user to switch effects chains according to specific frequencies or dynamics. Normal foot-switches can also be used for a more traditional set-up. This level of signal routing flexibility certainly gives a professional feel to the GT-001, allowing it to compete, in this regard, with units costing many times as much. This gives the option to monitor through the amp modelling and effects whilst capturing a dry track for reaping later on, offering a great deal of post recording flexibility and creativity. A mini headphones jack is also included. The mic pre-amp is more than good enough at this price range and since the mic signal can also be routed through the effects, offers a very useful vocal or miked instrument processor option for recording and live use. The interface is connected via a USB cable and requires driver installation, compatible with both Windows and OSX setups and the unit can be USB bus-powered or powered via the included AC adaptor. Driver latency can be set very low from our tests on both operating system set-ups. This is a good thing because the GT-001 also includes a great, monophonic pitch to MIDI convertor allowing you to control any of your software instruments via your guitar with very little set-up required. Tracking of both note and pitch bend data is very good indeed and, whilst you can’t play chords, as an added extra at this price it’s a fantastic feature to have for recording and even live performance. https://atlasautoglass.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16272e5b78b3c0---bridger-xg-user-manual.pdf

A quick perusal through the manual will get the majority of users creating their own patches very easily, although some of the deeper features are only mentioned in the online only manual, something more and more companies are doing these days. Boss also offers a great tone library in the form of their online enabled Tone Central software, connecting users to a vast library of tones from their favourite artists that can be loaded into the GT-001 with a single click and then saved for future use. The unit is well built and compact enough to fit into a gig bag with no issue and offers a superb solution for mobile guitar players requiring just the guitar, GT-001 and headphones for hotel use or compact studio or rehearsal work. The number of features on board is astounding and far too numerous to mention all of them in this review, but at this price Boss has a real winner here that should appeal to many guitar players. The Boss GT-001 is a long way from being in the same price bracket, but don't let that put you off. There's a vast choice of quality effects, preamps, cabs, mics, etc, and the display is so easy to understand. At a glance, and a twist of a knob, you can see which effects you have chosen, which are active, and the order they're in.I don't bother with the PC editor. No need. I've read a couple of fairly negative reviews, notably from Tony McKenzie, who's online in-depth and informative reviews I greatly appreciate, and enjoy, but I have to disagree with Tony on this one. I also own the GT-100, so I can compare the two easily. I feel he did not give the GT-001 enough attention. You really need to do a bit of deep tweaking to get the very best sounds out of it. Forget the factory presets, they're just a starting point, and another important aspect is that it really sweetens up after a couple of months of normal use. It's a little box of magic, and you can get some wonderful sounds out of it. It also has a mic input with phantom power, ( you need to choose that OR the guitar input, you can't have both.) it doubles as a sound card, comes with a downloadable PC editor, has connectors for external pedals or switches, and you hardly need to read the manual, it's so easy to use, solidly built, and above all, great FUN, all at an incredibly cheap price. Even though I've got some more top end stuff, I still find myself reaching for the Boss as 1st choice, when songwriting. It's ready to go in seconds and it takes no time to find approximately the sound you're after, the sounds are musically convincing, and the parameters are numerous with great depth. Send report Total handling features sound quality Nifty little GT100 for the bedroom guitarist Retribution, 05.01.2019 I have been using Boss GT-8, GT-10 and GT-100 purely for amp and effects modelling via electric guitar, and as recording interface. The problem was they took up half the space on my work desk. cysasdo.com/geektic/files/candy-aquamatic-manual-english.pdf

They are meant to be used on stage, taken from venue to venue, dropped, used as weapon in bar fights and controlled via pedals and external pedals. Then you get the GT-001. No difference in effects and sound quality whatsoever between the GT-001 and the GT-100 which I have owned before. You miss the LOOP, but you don't need a petty 14 second loop when you are using the device as a recording interface and can loop all you want on your DAW (Reaper, Cubase, Logic.) It lacks the large double LCD, but you use Boss ToneStudio for everything. The LCD is a cute little bonus for when you want to take your guitar and the lightweight GT-001 outdoors, use a 100.000mAh smartphone powerbank to power the GT-001 via usb, and play in the woods. It also has bonuses. You get the XLR input so you don't need an extra maudio or cakewalk recording interface for your vocals. Just plug in, download a vocal patch on Boss Tone Central and record your vocals through the GT-001. It saves so much space (large GT-100 and a recording interface), and so much money (Fraction of the price of those). But once you do that, you don't need this again. I take my mahogany Jackson SL2 (Mick Thomson), my Macbook and GT-001 to coffee shops, set my recording setup on a small coffee table, and record guitars when the neighbours are noisy. It's THAT mobile. As for patches, I just use good patches I have found on Boss Tone Central made by famous musicians, and don't spent too much time tweaking my own. Switching between patches is a bit troublesome for me, so I just use a set of four, and access them via the four mini buttons on the device. Also very compact to carry around and easy to use. Check Jack Thammarat, he used this for some recordings they even have his sound patches online for download (and other awesome guitarists). Send report Total handling features sound quality 2in1, DAW and Desktop Effects PreAmp slazgrc, 15.01.2018 I bought it in order to have a basic home studio setup, so I use it in order to have guitar effect and a DAW for my MacBook so I can record. The set up was not so straightforward as the instruction were not so clear ( about the drivers, also the manual is not so great), but finally I managed. Lots of presets, I managed quickly to find the ones I liked, so I didn't really deep dive in tweaking the presets. But you are right, a 5 pin would be a minimal cost to put in it. To have to add an FC300 to it for foot control though, you would come out far cheaper with the GT100. Also since the patches are interchangeable between the 2 units, the fact that you can program assigns is probably more for doing setups and patch building in the studio and then move them to the GT100 for live use. I'm not sure the assigns in the GT001 are meant to really be used with the GT001. I have not looked at the GT001 so I'm not even sure what the advantage would be over the GT100 aside from size, as it to could be used in the studio anyway. Heck, most DAW's (which you'll have to have in order to justify a purpose for this unit) are now coming off the shelf with decent amp modelers included. I get that it is supposed to make re-amping easy, but if I'm going to take my signal back out of the box for reamping, then I'm going to drop it down and feed it into a real amp to be captured with mics. As already mentioned, it's clearly not intended for live use, so I'm scratching my head wondering.Heck, most DAW's (which you'll have to have in order to justify a purpose for this unit) are now coming off the shelf with decent amp modelers included. As already mentioned, it's clearly not intended for live use, so I'm scratching my head wondering.Boss GT-001 IMHO is principally for those who prefer Roland COSM Amp modeling - vs all the competing Software based Amp Modeling. (which equates it will be popular with folks who have been living under a rock in recent years) And as I mentioned before - there will be tradeoffs in capabilities between a GT-100 and GT-001 - lack of an effects loop in the later is one example. I suppose in this 20 second attention span world of today - these details get missed by the average joe. And Roland Mic Preamps are nothing spectacular compared to a Focusrite. But this does provide a Mic Pre with Phantom power and 24 bit USB interface with FX Its going to be a tough battle for Roland, because lately i get lots of great sounds from my Software based Amp Modeling, and far more creative flexibility. After I got a recent Macbook Pro with fast SSD, and a good 24 bit interface, I finally have a solid platform and mobility without the gotchas of many Roland COSM systems ( I have said goodbye to Global Audio mutes during every patch change). These are tough times for Roland IMHO.When PREAMP was set to a specific value, the sound sometimes did not play as set.
